With a view to promoting the ‘Art’ of photography, Ojas Art put together some of the best images captured through the magic lens of renowned photographer Raghu Rai. Ojas Art was increasingly becoming a name synonymous with presenting innovative approaches to Indian art.
In his half-century career as a photographer, Raghu Rai had won numerous national and international accolades. The exhibition, Picturing Time, focused on the most creative images from his stellar career. The images were especially handpicked to suit the artistic palate of the Indian Art Connoisseur.
Fifty images marked 50 years of the master photographer’s work. The exhibition included Rai’s trademark black-and-white, as well as coloured images. The images on display at the exhibition spanned various subjects — from breathtaking stills capturing the grain of both traditional and contemporary India to city-specific stills; images through which Rai captured the rich tapestry, the very DNA, which defines India.
“In the last fifty years, photography has seen a paradigm shift. But the purpose remains the same, to capture an evocative moment that reflects the essence of time as this is the visual history of tomorrow,” said Raghu Rai.
The exhibition was accompanied by an eponymous 192-page publication by Aleph Book Company, capturing 50 years of exceptional images and the stories behind them. This book was available at the exhibition, which showcased Rai’s iconic images, from an early morning view of the Yamuna to Jantar Mantar in the afternoon and a silent Qutab Minar, offering a visual treat for art lovers and collectors alike.
“The maestro, Raghu Rai, completing 50 years as a photographer is historic. To be presenting an exhibition to celebrate this milestone was exceptional for the gallery,” said Anubhav Nath, Ojas Art.
