Revisiting the historical term musawwari, the publication reflects on how miniature painting continues to evolve while remaining rooted in centuries of storytelling, craftsmanship and cultural memory.

Featuring artists from diverse backgrounds, the book examines how contemporary practitioners reinterpret traditional miniature painting to engage with themes of identity, migration, spirituality, politics, ecology and personal history.
