V Viswanadhan

V. Viswanadhan obtained a Diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts Chennai in 1966. That same year he helped found the Cholamandal Artists’ Village near Chennai. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the K.C.S. Paniker Award (2008), Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi Award (2008) and Chevalier des Arts et Lettres (2005). In addition to painting, Viswanadhan has also created significant films on various subjects.

Selected exhibitions include ‘Made in India’ at Galerie Lipao Huang, Paris (2010); Mostra Internacional de Cinema in Sao Paolo, Brazil (2010); Festival dei Popoli, Florence (2010); Marlborough Gallery, New York (2008); Asian Art Fair, New York (2007); ‘Viswanadhan Early Years’ at Delhi Art Gallery, New Delhi (2007); Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Arts, Brest (2001); Galerie Darthea Speyer, Paris (2000); ‘Salon Renacimiento’ at Palazio Santa Cruz in Valladolid, Spain (2000); ‘Medienzentrum’ in Bremen, Germany (1995); Philippe Briet Gallery, New York (1992); ABF Galeriet in Huddinge, Sweden (1990); and ‘Masques d’Artistes’ at Malmaison, Cannes (1987).
