Sudhir Patwardhan is a self-taught artist and, until recently, was a practicing radiologist. Patwardhan’s paintings are packed with images of everyday city life, with a special emphasis on the common man. While depicting the monotony of city life, Patwardhan gives his human figures a sense of dignity as they go about performing their daily routines.

Patwardhan has exhibited his works in number of solo and group exhibitions including ‘Citing The City’ at the Sakshi Gallery, Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai; Gallerie 88, Kolkata (2007-08); Shridharani Gallery, New Delhi and Red Earth Gallery, Vadodara (2007-08); India Habitat Centre, New Delhi (2004), Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai (2002); ‘Multiple Modernities: India, 1905-2005’at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (2008);‘Horn Please: Narratives in Contemporary Indian Art’ at the Kusntmuseum Bern, Switzerland (2007); ‘Gateway Bombay’ at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts (2007); and ‘Art for Conservation’ at Mall Galleries, London (2006).
