Pavan Kavitkar born in 1990 in Amravati, India, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai, 2014 and Master of Fine Arts from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, 2016.
Pavan Kavitkar’s artistic practice addresses the complex interplay of spaces, drawing inspirations from concrete vs. nature, which are imbued with memories, artifacts and instances. He focuses on the subtle contradiction and often overlooked details of everyday life between man and nature exploring the interconnected conflict and harmony.
Narrative in nature, his art reflects a tranquil yet intricate approach to storytelling. His compositions are infused with intricate details that invite viewers to delve deeper into his world. By spending time with his paintings, one can uncover hidden elements and subtle observations that convey the artist’s personal experiences and memories.
His works have been exhibited in multiple group shows. Additionally, he has taught as a guest faculty at the College of Fine Art at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore for two years. He has received the 2021 Golden Brush Award- Artild Gallery, Bangalore, 2021, All India Merit Grant for Lockdown Art from Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation, Mumbai, 2020, Khoj Support Grant, 2017-18, Lalit Kala Research scholarship at Chennai Regional Centre by Government of India, 2016-17, Ila Panda Centre for Art Scholarship, IPCA, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.
