Partha Dey graduated from the Govt. College of art & crafts – Kolkata, later joining The Economic Times as an Illustrator. He later went to Morley College London, UK to earn professional experience with The Charles Wallace award during 1993-95 in Design.
Back home he started working in ceramics on his own along with a teaching position at the renowned Ramakrishna mission institute of culture, Kolkata. In the year 2001 and 2002, he had solo exhibitions and gave workshops at Paris, London, Amsterdam and Dubai. In 2004 he traveled to London, to exhibit Indian art and potteries at Nehru Centre, The Gallery Walk, and the Dessertenne Gallery in Paris.
After a his European experience and subsequently employing western techniques to his Indian rural crafts tradition, he received a in 2011-12 working at the Art Department at the University of Iowa on his project– Application of Ceramics on multiple mediums. His work in collections in the U.K., France, U.S.A. and India.
