Born in 1971 in Bengal Mithu Sen completed her BA and MA in painting from Santiniketan before she went to the Glasgow School of Art in UK for a year’s study on a scholarship. A multi talented artist, a painter turned sculptor/installation artist/designer who experiments with different art forms and also dabbles in poetry, creates art with found objects and personal materials from her immediate surroundings, to present stories in her bold and beautiful art in a mix of fact and fiction. Though she also paints and draws on paper and other material, her work is essentially conceptual and intentionally interactive. The subjects of gender, domesticity, sexuality, kitsch are recurrent themes in her work that has been widely shown in India and abroad during residencies and exhibitions. She lives in Delhi and works from her studio in the city.
