Dulari Devi is an eminent Mithila artist, born into a poor family in Bihar. Due to poverty, from childhood she did various chores — fish-selling, washing dishes and clothes in people’s houses, etc. She always had this feeling inside her that she wanted to express herself artistically. Incidentally, one day she came to know that she was doing works in an artist’s house. In the very next day, she expressed her willing to learn painting to her employer, who readily agreed. From that day onwards her journey in the field of art had started. Her inner urge and strong imaginative power turns Dulari Devi into one of the renowned faces of Mithila artists from a domestic helper. She has participated in numerous exhibitions, and has illustrated a book for Tara Books.
