Raised in Patangarh, Madhya Pradesh, Dilip Shyam is well-known for his depiction of nature in the style of Gond art. His paternal uncle, the renowned Gondi painter Jangarh Singh Shyam, encouraged him to take up the art form and follow his passion. In 2008, he was awarded the prestigious Jangarh Singh Shyam Award. Some of Dilip’s works are on display at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal and many have also been incorporated as illustrations in various books.
