Satadru is a multi-disciplinary artist – equally at home painting large canvases, creating his own performance art, or creating light installations. He received his masters degree in painting from Visva Bharati University Santiniketan in 2000, and a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of California. It was here, while working in Digital and New Media, that he developed an obsession with light as a creative form – from painting, to animation and movies and theatre. In his Geometric LED installations, he draws from his experimentations with South Asian gender narratives, combining materials, imagery as well as light and shape in bringing to life what he describes as “post cyber movement perceptions.” Different works incorporate glass etching, digital imagery and painting, and light refracting glass beads. Satadru is the recipient of several awards and residencies and his work is in the collection private collections as well as museums. His international exhibitions include the Lincoln Centre in New York, and The Museum of Art and History in Santa Cruz as well Schema Art Museum ,Korea, Cheongju Contemporary Art Museum in, Malaysia, as well as exhibitions in Korea, Hong Kong, South Africa, Vietnam, Iran and Germany.
