Sukesan Kanka holds a degree in painting from Trissur Fine Arts College. A multi-faceted artist, he primarily paints in a surrealist style. Influenced by Lacan’s ‘Mirror Stage Theory,’ Kanka’s paintings are portrayals of dreams and other psychological fantasies. Kanka is the recipient of a Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi Scholarship (2003) and a National Scholarship (2005-07).
He has exhibited his works in various group exhibitions including ‘Border Lines’ at the Shreedharani Art Gallery, New Delhi (2010); Lalith Kala Akademi State Art Exhibition, Kerala (2010); “First Impressions” at Art Select, Dubai Hyatt Residency (2009); ‘Expressions at Tihar’ at Ojas Art, New Delhi (2009); ‘Southern Contemporaries’ at Indusvista Art Gallery, Mumbai (2008);‘Harmony Art Show’, Mumbai (2008); and ‘Art Equalated’ at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi (2007).
Kanka lives and works in Trichur.
