(b.1940, Kerala) V. Viswanadhan obtained a Diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts Chennai in 1966. That same year he helped found the Cholamandal Artists’ Village near Chennai. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the K.C.S. Paniker Award (2008), Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi Award (2008) and Chevalier des Arts et Lettres (2005). In addition to painting, Viswanadhan has also created significant films on various subjects.
