(b.1981, Maharashtra) Shreyas Karle obtained his MFA in painting from MS University, Vadodara in 2008. That same year he was the recipient of the prestigious Bodhi Art Award. Karle works in various mediums including video, printmaking and photography. With a strong interest in public art projects, he likes to see himself as a nomad who moves from place to place, idea to idea.
Selected exhibitions include ‘Karle Ki Koshish’ at Pundole Art Gallery and Project88, Mumbai (2010); ‘Hyphenated Practices’ at the FICA Annual Group Show, New Delhi (2009); ‘Expressions at Tihar,’ Ojas Art, New Delhi (2009); ‘EVERYTHING’ at The Westerhuis, Amsterdam (2008); a curated show by Lalit Kala Akademi in Vietnam (2008); and ‘Keep Drawing’ at Pundole Art Gallery, Mumbai (2007). Karle was also the recipient of the 2010 FICA Award 2010 and did a two month artist residency at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California. Karle will also be a part of the ‘Banyan Tree Show’ at the Essel Museum in Vienna opening in November 2010. He is currently teaching fine art at Rachana Sansad in Mumbai.
