Manjunath Kamath

(b.1972, Karnataka) Manjunath Kamath obtained his BFA degree in Sculpture from Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts, Mysore. In 2002, he was the recipient of the Charles Wallace Scholarship and was an artist in residence at the School of Art & Design, University of Wales Institute, U.K. Kamath’s color-intensive work is an eclectic mix of fantasy and realism. Through skillful permutations and combinations Kamath creates satirical images that act as visual puns for the viewer of the work.

His solo shows have included ‘108 Small Stories’ at Gallery Espace, Delhi (2007); ‘Something Happened’ at Gallery Espace, Delhi (2006). Selected group exhibitions include ‘Reclaim/Recite/Recycle’ at the Travancore Art Gallery, New Delhi and the Bose Pacia Gallery, Kolkata (2009); ‘ARCO’ at the IFEMA, Madrid; ‘Chaos in Order’ in Hanoi, Vietnam (2008); ‘The Ethics of Encounter’ at Gallery Soulflower, Bangkok (2008); ‘Expressions at Tihar,’ Ojas Art, New Delhi (2009); and ‘Telling It Like It Is, The Indian Story’ at Gallery Cork Street, London (2007). His works can also be found in many significant public and private collections.
